Kenyataan Fernando Torres kepada media telah disalah tafsir dan menimbulkan kekalutan yang mencadangkan bahawa penyerang Sepanyol ini tidak gembira dengan perlantikan Roy Hodgson dan mahu meninggalkan Liverpool pada musim mendatang.

Kenyataan Torres:

"I was happy Hodgson got the job. I haven't had a chat with him yet but I will talk with him soon and we will see his ideas about the future.

"For now, my future is here. South Africa and the World Cup is too important to think about things after that.

"I have a very important week still here and after that I will have time to talk with him and talk about my future."

Torres added: "He did really well at Fulham and I am sure he can do better for Liverpool. He is a very good manager. He showed that in the past and in the last season with Fulham.

"Hopefully he will be the right man to give Liverpool the opportunity to be strong again."

Namun agen Torres, Jose Antonio Martin bagaimana pun telah menyangkal laporan media di England berkenaan perkara tersebut dan menegaskan bahawa Torres akan kekal di Anfield dan masih mempunyai kontrak di sini.

Kenyataan Martin:

"For many months I have not spoken to the England press because their quotes are totally false," 

"Now is not the moment to speak about this issue because Torres is focused completely on his work for Spain.

"After the World Cup (player-agency company) Bahia Internacional will possibly meet with the player but the truth is that Fernando has signed a deal with Liverpool which is for the present and the future."

Mungkin ini merupakan serangan psikologi oleh pihak tertentu yang ingin menduga kesabaran dan kepimpinan Hodgson di Liverpool. Semoga Hodgson akan menutup mulut mereka dengan suatu kejayaan buat The Reds pada musim 2010/11.
