Penjaga gol lagenda The Reds, Bruce Grobbelaar menyatakan sokongannya kepada Kenny Dalglish untuk menjadi pengurus Liverpool yang kosong setelah Rafael Benitez dipecat awal Jun ini. Grobbelaar dipetik berkata:
We need someone who has been at Liverpool every day. That man is Kenny Dalglish.Sebelum itu, Peter Beardsley juga menyatakan sokongannya kepada King Kenny sambil menyatakan Benitez juga seorang pengurus yang hebat di Eropah cuma gagal untuk menghasilkan kejayaan di arena tempatan. Dalam pada itu juga, Benitez yang telah dilantik menggantikan The Special One turut menyatakan sokongannya kepada King Kenny.
I would have liked to have seen him get a chance of steadying the ship. He wouldn’t have come in and asked for a huge amount of money. Any other manager will demand millions – and a long-term contract.Kenny loves the game. He loves the people of Liverpool and he’s at the club all the time. They should have given him a chance, if only for a year.
Then, if we get back into the Champions League, they could have found a manager who was charismatic enough to take over.
I think they should look at Kenny Dalglish. He is the best man for the job. The owners should listen to the fans because they are unhappy.
No one knows the club better than Dalglish, and he would be perfect there. He wants the job and in my opinion he should get it.
